Mark It: Open Markets Open

HANNAH L: The beautiful spring weather appeared just in time for the opening weekend of many outdoor markets and festivals around the city. Piquing my interest was the food truck festival held to open the Rose Kennedy Greenway market. There were food trucks of all varieties, a beer garden, yard games, a DJ, endless rows of artisan vendors, and if you’re a dog person without a pet friendly apartment…plenty of dogs to pet!

With options to draw a wide variety of interests, this market is nestled in a perfectly convenient stretch of the city between Faneuil Hall and Waterfront Park with quick access to the Blue Line at Aquarium. The biggest hits of the food trucks were the Dining Car truck with Mediterranean inspired food (I had the honey goat cheese sandwich) and the taco trucks, both with lines long enough to wrap around others.

The sea of people and long lines for food could be off-putting for some, but it didn’t disturb most people’s good moods. I think everyone was just happy to have a reason to be out in the gorgeous weather to banish the remainders of seasonal depression. The market had a variety of beautiful, handmade products and a lot of jewelry vendors, which I would say is pretty standard for an artisan market. Overall the food truck festival was a wonderful way to bring in the warm weather with a block party vibe, but it could’ve used a coffee/tea/drink truck that wasn’t Boba.
